The performance of these structures will deteriorate over twenty years or more, but we frequently find a couple of days spent checking and repairing them can dramatically improve the quality of stored grain, or reduce the risk of pollution from a damaged store. The continued passage of grain can wear pipes and chutes, so we have become expert at carrying out effective economical repairs.
| We can supply and/or erect many sizes and makes of silos.
We can clean them up to look like new. |
We can repair damaged silos by rebuilding them with new or good quality second hand sheets. |

| The customer required a small silo that would fit on the existing base, between a shed and another silo. We were able to supply one of the required size. A door that would provide access to the contents for sampling and removal of small quantities, without spillage, was also required. | We designed and fabricated a door to meet these requirements. It fits the curve of the silo exactly, so that here is no distortion and consequent unpredictable stresses on the structure. | We also supply Collinsons feed silos and conveying systems, and are currently working on indoor and outdoor silos to store wood pellets for heating. More details this autumn! |
| Due to pressure on space, it is now becoming necessary to position the slurry store some distance away from the main cattle buildings. We install underground pressure pipes and pumping systems, such as this. |
The pipe work is over 60metres long, rising nearly 10 metres. A through the wall stirrer is recommended for all above ground tanks. We are happy to supply and fit these in an existing store as well as new installations as above. |

| This is our latest installation in operation, with the pump running at only 400 PTO rpm! | This type of double valved outlet can be used to fill a tanker or for umbilical operation, and complies with the latest regulations. A simple recirculation pump will allow agitation through the jetter, without the need for an expensive reception pit |

Many older sluice valves are no longer considered safe, (see DEFRA document) and an outlet like the one pictured is a reasonable cost update, which can be fitted to an existing slurry store, while blocking the existing sluice, for around half the cost of a replacement for the existing! The cheapest option is to upgrade the existing valves, but this is only feasible if they are easily accessible.
The finance Act of 2008 specifically mentions silage clamps and slurry stores as being eligible for Capital Allowance purposes, i.e. as plant & equipment. Currently this means that a 50% first year allowance is given on any cost incurred, net of any grants received. The balance will be written off at 25% reducing balance per year after. To qualify for maximum tax relief all relevant invoices must clearly state what the items are for.

This Collinsons feed silo was ready for replacement, but with a few new parts to include an improved bagging chute, and some careful fabrication, it should last a few more years yet!

All work is performed in the safest way possible. We specialise in slurry stores and sealed grain silos, such as Permastore®/Harvestore® (Howard), Boythorpe and Simplex. We can supply and erect second hand models, in many sizes, by most manufacturers, and new silos and slurry tanks by Permastore®
We buy silos and tanks as well. We are currently looking particularly for large Harvestore® (Howard) silage/haylage/forage towers, all sizes of Harvestore® (Howard) grain silos, and recent large Harvestore® (Howard) or Permastore® tanks in good condition.
We are desperately seeking large, recent, (8’ x 4’ sheets) Boythorpe silos and tanks in good condition.
